"The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you." -Genesis 12:1
I love a good story. Whether it's a book, a movie, or a friend, if I know I'm about to hear a well-told story, I'm all ears. Abraham played an important role in God's story as we read in Genesis 12. In faith, he followed God's call on his life, and he left his home to live in a new place.
These days I can relate with Abraham. I wonder if his family spent lots of time packing. Do you think they downsized their stuff in order to make the journey? I wonder if they were ever tired or excited or scared or content. This season, my family and I find ourselves living in that balance between a sense of God's empowering call on our lives and the details of making a new house and a new community our home. We are sad to leave our family and church community in Rockford, Illinois, but we are excited to join this Northwoods community, to be blessed, and to be a blessing to others. The church family of St. Germain EFC have sincerely made our transition a joy.
I am honored to be your Senior Pastor and look forward to growing together in Christ. As we find ourselves in God's story and experience His hope for our lives, my prayer is that we will truly shine like a light where we live. May God through us continue building a community that loves Christ to reach a community for Christ.
Because He lives,
Pastor Josh

Most Extreme Home Serve Project!
The Outreach team wishes to thank the many volunteers who worked so hard to welcome our new pastor, Josh Reese and his family. Their new home is now a warm and welcoming place thanks to the work crews, the Care Team and those who provided groceries and casseroles. As our new pastor said, “This home is already serving its purpose of bringing people together!” A big, heartfelt thank you to all who participated!
The Best Kept Secret at St. Germain EV Free!
Want to get in on the ground floor of one of the sweetest ministries at our church? Talk to Larry Snedden or any member of the outreach team about our ministry at Lillian Kerr Nursing Home. It is a wonderful opportunity for ministry by simple folks to simple folks. It is not a burden but a joy to us. No special talent is necessary; a love for older people is all you need!
The Sonshine Society is an organization specifically designed to equip nursing home ministries. In the training manual, “All The Days of My Life”, it states, “If our Lord opens a door of ministry in a nursing home, you have a great opportunity before you. You can be His hands, feet and voice to those in an hour of great need. You will not be meeting and ministering to the mighty of this world, but just to plain folks, as He did. You will have opportunities to lead some to the Lord and to encourage others in the faith.” Those of us who have taken this opportunity can testify to the truth of this statement! Why don’t you join us? Contact Larry Snedden, Greg Rippel or Dawn Kline for the schedule. We’d love to have you come along
GIDEONS
On August 8th, David Harms of Gideons International visited our church. He sent a letter of thanks. Here is a quote from his letter.
“Your congregation’s love for the Word is obvious. The offering that was given in the amount of $759.00 is evidence of what we consider to be a partnership between the church and the Gideons International in providing God’s Word to a lost world. Please know that these funds will be used in their entirety to provide Scriptures in the traffic lanes of life.”

HELP IS HERE
We are excited to offer a DVD/small group study on marriage. It’s for anyone: in marital crisis… wanting to stay happily married… who’s feeling lonely… engaged couples.
This biblically based study entitled “Love And Respect” by Dr. Emerson Eggerich, will begin Sunday, October 3rd, at 7:00 p.m. at the St. Germain EFC. To ‘kick-off’ this helpful study, we are planning to show the film, Fireproof, the Sunday before – September 26, at 7:00 p.m.
Faye and I had the privilege of participating in this study a few years ago, and found it to be very helpful to us even after 40 plus years of marriage. It’s because it delivers a simple message that works!
Dr. Eggerich writes, “ A wife has one driving need – to feel loved. When that need is met, she is happy. A husband has one driving need – to feel respected. When that need is met, he is happy. When either of these needs isn’t met, things get crazy. Love & Respect reveals why spouses react negatively to each other, and how they can deal with such conflict quickly, easily and biblically.”
Sound interesting? Is this something your marriage might benefit from? Then sign up on the sheet on the counter at the red wall and plan to come together on Sept. 26th for the showing of “Fireproof” and the “Love & Respect” study beginning the next Sunday night. 7:00 is the starting time. Any questions- contact Pastor Larry at (715 356 2511).

OUR YOUNG PEOPLE ARE OFF TO COLLEGEWe had many graduates in 2010 and they, and others, are now off to college. We would like to keep in touch with them thus we are asking that you send their addresses to the church by email, drop them off in the office or send them by ‘snail mail’. One of the mailings will be the church newsletter. Their addresses will be published on the bulletin board and in the newsletter so people from the church can send them notes of encouragement throughout the year.
Thank you for your prompt response to this request.
